In chess, a player should not just think of his immediate move but should access what would be the next move of his opponent as a response to his move and should plan number of his own several moves. This is called as down-board thinking.
Likewise in projects, the project manager should consider the current scenario and also what can be the possible situations or environments which can impact his project and should plan and be prepared accordingly. This can also be called as “What if Scenario analysis”
This applies to even individuals in their life, be prepared and plan for all possible situations in your life.
